Metro Waste Authority announces new ‘Adopt a Stream’ program

Adopt a Stream logoMetro Waste Authority, a Council cooperator organization, has launched a fantastic new website with great resources for Iowans who want to take action to protect a local stream.  The website also helps folks near Des Moines organize a stream clean-up–a service MWA tells us may eventually be extended statewide.  From MWA’s announcement:

Adopt A Stream provides the resources to help groups organize a stream cleanup in the Greater Des Moines area. From adopting a stream, to getting permission to access the stream, we have the step-by-step guide and forms you need.

New members can use the Adopt a Stream website to promote their cleanup event and recruit volunteers. Event cleanup supplies such as litter grabbers, safety vests and gloves are available. Download sample news releases, sign in forms, safety guidelines and safety waivers from the website and customize them for your event.
