Iowa’s contributions to deteriorating water quality

Today’s Des Moines Register had a lead story on how Iowa’s agricultural practices are contributing to deteriorating water quality, with adverse impacts for human or environmental health.,The  Iowa Environmental Council for years has been a leader in alerting the public and political leaders of this threat to our water quality. And there seems to be agreement the problem is serious, threatening to our water quality  and those of our downstream states. There seems to be agreement that runoff is not being solved by voluntary solutions.

The story quotes political leaders who are proposing ‘more of the same’ solutions. What do you think of the logic of continuing with more of the same practices, but  hoping that different results will occur?
